MSP-GANG: Error 33: IR communication fail (SO 142304)

Part Number: MSP-GANG

Dear Sir/Madam,

One of our customers has an issue with MSP-GANG. When the customer used their own unit, it does not have the issues but the new 2 parts from Mouser have an issue with error code 33. 

I have attached the pictures and test reports the customer provided. 

Could you please help to check and advise on how to resolve it? Please let me know if you need additional information as well. Thanks!

    I find some information related to the error 33 IR communication failed. 

    IR communication failed means there was an issue on the SBW lines that made it where the MSP-GANG had trouble talking to the target device.
    In order to help diagnose the issue, I have some questions:

    Are you using a TI target board, or a custom board?
    Can you provide a portion of the schematic showing the TEST/RST (SBW) connection to the MSP-GANG, including Vcc/Gnd and any passives or other devices connected to RST/TEST pins?
    Can you also provide information on how the board is powered (from MSP-GANG, or is there any external supply on the board or battery)?
    How is the MSP-GANG physically connected to the device on the board - is the provided ribbon cable to a 14-pin header used, single unshielded wires, pogo pins, or what method? What is the total length of the signal path between MSP-GANG and the device (must be less than 50cm)?
    Are there noise sources in the system? (radios, motors, relays, etc)?
     
    Hopefully these can help provide some clues to what is happening.

    There is one clue I noticed. The GANG programmer GUI seems as a very old version. And with the new MCP-GANG, it might cause some issues. SO, can the customer update the programmer GUI to the latest version and then also update the firmware of the MSP-GNAG using the latest GUI.

    Sorry for the late response. 

    Is the customer do not know how to update the firmware on the MSP-GANG through the latest GUI? They can click on Tools->GANG API firmware Update for it. 

    Could you also ask the customer to check on the information showed in the GUI About->About. Is their any differences between the good one and the bad one.

  • I receive my programmer today, I have EXCACTLY the SAME issue with MSP-GANG. It seems these MSP-GANG PROGRAMMERS are of poor compatibility.
