Hi Gulnur,

Please see the MSP Debuggers User's Guide for information about using the MSP-FET. See section 5.6.4 for information about the meaning of the LED outputs. It sounds like you are experiencing an error condition such as overcurrent. The recommended fix for this is to unplug and plug back in.

Hi Dylan,

The suggested solution did not works. When the programmer is first connected to the computer, 4V comes from the vcc pin. After a while, even though no target device is connected to the programmer, the power light turns off and the voltage on the vcc pin of the programmer shows 3 V.

So even if there is no target device connected, the red LED flashes? This would indicate that there is an error with the MSP-FET itself. Or potentially just the MSP-FET's connection to your PC. Have you tried connecting the MSP-FET to a different PC to see if another PC is able to recognize it?

Hi Gulnur,

If you are seeing that the MSP-FET is reporting an error condition (red led on) no matter which power source you connect it to, that makes me question whether the device has sustained some damage.

What USB connector are you using? Is it one that came with the MSP-FET? Maybe the wire is broken or it is not the correct type. You could try switching this as well?

After you've tried swapping the cord, if it still isn't working, then I think we have effectively narrowed the issue down to the MSP-FET. Unless both computers are not compatible but I would suspect that is not the case. It looks like the last thing to try is to reset the device as described in section 5.6.5.3 section MSP-FET HID Cold Boot in the MSP debuggers users guide. If that does not work I would suspect the device is damaged and not able to be recovered.

Hi Gulnur,

Unfortunately I do not have any video of this to show you a demonstration. I will add that if there is some damage to the device, this cold reset will not fix it anyways. My recommendation to you would be to try your best to do this based off of the description in the guide, let us know if you have a specific question that we can try to help with, and concurrently, try using a different MSP-FET.
