MSP430AFE221: Is there any MSP430 that is 100% US made?

Part Number: MSP430AFE221

Tool/software:

That's it. Just trying to figure out if I can buy a 100% USA made, packaged, and tested microcontroller from TI.  All I need is an I2C controller on board and a few GPIOS.

Thank you.

  • Hello Eric,

I don't know the exact supply chain for all our devices but if you are asking in related to an aerospace or defense project, I will say that we have many many customers in that space.

Based on my experience, most of our silicon manufacturing is actually done in the USA but we do a lot packaging and testing in both the Philippines and Malaysia, I believe.

    Thanks,

    JD

  • Yes I'm asking in relation to product that must be 100% made in the USA. I haven't been able to find anything on TIs site or from distribution that says yes the MSP430XXXX is fabed, packaged and tested in the US.  In my case packaged in Philippines or Malaysia would not work.  I just need one part with an I2C port that meets those requirements and I was hoping TI could give me a suggestion for what to use.

    Thank you

  • Hello Eric,

I spoke with my systems and my marketing team and a 100% USA made device didn't come to mind.  I'm not aware of any devices, TI or other, that are fully built in the US.

I did find we have a page to search for all the manufacturing information for a specific part number or a list of part numbers.  https://www.ti.com/material-attributes-search/  On a product page, you can also click the "view additional manufacturing information" on the far right side of the order table.

I don't know an easy way to search based on manufacturing flow though.

    Regards,

    JD
