MSP-EXP430F5529LP Board and Pinout Drawings

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, MSP430FR5969

Hello to all,

Could you please recommend a program to create nice looking drawings such as the ones that are shown in the F5529 Launchpad user's guide?

Regards,

Theodora

  • For example: Adobe Illustrator.

  • These drawings are done in Inkscape, an SVG editor.

    Glad you like them!

  • Unfortunately Adobe Illustrator is not free so I will try Inkscape as recommended by MikeS.

    Many thanks for your replies!

    Regards,

    Theodora

  • MikeS, can you share your drawings in vector? I want to add support for various TI launchpads for cuwire, my own microcontroller IDE. You can check example board at this page

    Thank you!

  • Ivan,

    Looks like a cool IDE!

I am happy to sharing the drawings with you. I will post them in inkscape, and you can export to the format of your choice. Which LaunchPads would you like this for?
  • Share as many as possible ;-)

In current state cuwire supports those LaunchPads:

    • cc3200: LaunchPad w/ cc3200 (80MHz),
    • lm4f: LaunchPad (Stellaris) w/ lm4f120 (80MHz), LaunchPad (Tiva C) w/ tm4c123 (80MHz), LaunchPad (Tiva C) w/ tm4c129 (120MHz),
    • and long list of msp430 launchpads.

Maybe I ask too much, but maybe you can connect me with someone at PR? I want to get some development boards to fullfill testing stand.

  • Theodora,

Adobe let's you download the (older) complete Creative Suite 2 which includes Illustrator and Photoshop and other programs with all serials provided by Adobe, too. The downloads are for persons, who originally had this software but have lost it or cannot install it for any other reason. So if you now remember you had it some time ago, but don't know where it is these days, you are lucky. You can legally download it from Adobe. CS2 works without problems on my actual Win8.1, only the Acrobat does not work properly.

    Dennis

  • Thank you very much for the valuable info Dennis! I will check it out asap!

For anyonone interested, I had created a pinout drawing of the MSP430FR5969 microcontroller using Inkscape. I'm attaching a zip with the drawing in pdf and svg format.

It was my first attempt in using Inkscape so it isn't perfect, but it helped me a lot to design a board with this mcu :)

    Regards,

    Theodora

  • I actually was wondering for some time what program was used for those drawings, thanks MikeS :D
, do you use that IDE with CCS tools? Like, just as editor? Seems really nice.
  • @Theodora - awesome job on the FR5969 pinout! I really like that diagram- it is very helpful for completing a design. Would you mind if I used the source you provided to generate a similar pinout for FR5969 and other LaunchPads? I think others would find it very useful as well!

@Luis - Yes Inkscape is a great program for this sort of thing. I am only scratching the surface of its functionality too! Definitely download it and play around!

@Ivan- I am attaching a zip with the Quick Start Guide (QSG) source for MSP430 and the new MSP432 LaunchPad. I only am providing for the LPs that I generated this pinout for - i.e. the G2 LaunchPad (before the time of the QSG) and other LPs like TIVA and CC3xxx aren't attached. You may be able to get more content on the Tiva forums, although I am not sure that they have a similar QSG, and if they do I am not sure if they do it in inkscape? Apologies in advance for how huge this zip folder is going to be :)

To future readers of this thread. The QSGs attached here current as of March 25 2014. Future updates to any of these EVMs could leave this source out of date- so be aware of that. Compare it to the PDF QSG available online for any differences. (In most cases any change would be very minor once the EVM is released).

  • Sorry, not sure what happened to my comment after I inserted the file. The above should have read:

  • MikeS I am really glad you like the drawing! Of course you can use it as wou wish, please feel free to do so! :)

Many thanks again for your recommendation on using Inkscape, it is indeed a really nice program and thank you too very much for providing your svg files!

    Theodora

  • , thank you for sharing
  • Luis, I'm using cuwire for some my IoT projects, basically as Arduino IDE replacement. I hope to add support for more complex build systems, like mbed or CCS in near future.
