Hi,
I'm using Launchpad Rev 1.4 and it came with G2331. Since G2331 doesnt have UART I ordered G2553. Launchpad Rev 1.4 dosnt support HW UART mode so how can I use G2553 with Launchpad Rev 1.4? I dont want to use the software UART. I also cant put the jumpers in vertical position as others do who has Launchpad Rev 1.5.
Please help.

I'm not sure what you mean. The MSP430G2553 chip has UCA0_RXD on P1.1 and UCA0_TXD on P1.2 (Pins 3 and 4 of the left-side header).
So you can connect those to an RS-232 translator and plug into the serial port of your PC.
Hi,
I figured out the problem. Here is the link

Ah... you wanted to use the virtual com port function of the emulation interface. Your question wasn't clear on that point.
That is, in fact the main difference between the 1.4 and 1.5 G-series Launchpads. The jumpers moved and and wired for vertical or horizontal mode depending on chip.
