MSP FET not working after Driver Upgrade

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Hi,

I have purchased mspfet recently . I plugged in the device at the v first time it installed drivers and firmware upgrade . then i connect the debugger to the target device ,tried to connect Its showing the following error. I was using MSP430FET UIF earlier and now mspfet . I hope the 14 pin connector is the same . I am using CCS6.0 as well CCS5.5.

Drivers have installed properly and showing the detection in device manager .

Now what to do ?

Regards,

Apurwa

  • 'unknown deice' means the FET itself is running, but it doesn't recognize the target device. One possible reason might be that the target was experimental silicon (marking XMS430 instead of MSP430). Some device information has been removed from the FET firmware recently. Perhaps because of some ambiguity in the identification of the pre-production silicon of the XMS devices.
To narrow it done further, you should post more information about your target.

And yes, the connectors are compatible. The newer MSP-FET adds two more signals for BSL functionality, but is otherwise backwards compatible to the older FET430UIF. The only difference is that the MSP-FET is faster and therefore has some more restrictions regarding the target connection (reduced cable size and cable capacitance). It normally makes no difference in 4-wire JTAG mode but is quite critical on SBW mode.
