I have an MSP-FET. It was working properly with CCS v6. I recently installed SmartRF Studio 7. When opening up SmartRF studio, it was listing the MSP-FET as one of the devices it recognized and insisted on upgrading it, so I let it upgrade it.
Now the CCS v6 cannot communicate with the MSP-FET. When I try to debug in CCS v6, I get the error:
Error initializing emulator:
Interface Communication error
I have tried using MSPFlasher_1.3.7 to try and communicate with the MSP-FET and I get this message:
* -----/|-------------------------------------------------------------------- *
* / |__ *
* /_ / MSP430 Flasher v1.3.7 *

* Initializing interface @ COM7...
# Exit: 19
# ERROR: Interface Communication error

* Driver : closed (No error)

*/
The MSP-FET has only the green light on, but I think it is bricked. How can I recover it?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Ryan,
The error messages displayed by CCS and MSP430-Flasher were the same: "Interface Communication error".
I had a TRXEB plugged into another USB port on my PC. When I unplugged the TRXEB from the USB port and rebooted my computer, MSP-Flasher and CCS were able to communicate with the MSP-FET and I could get the version number out of it.
I tried the FET-Pro430 and I was able to read the current firmware version and update the firmware, so all is ok right now.
Thanks,
Mike
