MSP-FET (Last model, the black one) not recognized by Windows 7 x64

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

I have a brand new MSP-FET. Windows XP 32 install drivers without problem, but I can not make it to work in Windows 7 x64.

7 shows it as a "MSP Tools Driver" in device manager and it can't find drivers for it. I have tried last versions of CCS, IAR, MSP Stack and standalone drivers package. No solution. Windows 7 can't find any compatible hardware drivers.

Any clue?

  • Hello Inigo,

Please try removing the drivers/device in device manager. And then download/install the "MSPDS-USB-DRIVERS" from here: http://www.ti.com/tool/mspds before connecting the MSP-FET.

Please let me know if this made any difference.

    Regards,

    David
  • Hello,

    I have done already.

I have tried the CCS, IAR, MSP Debug Stack and the standalone installer drivers. All latest version. No luck.

I have forced installing the drivers selecting "MSP Tool Drivers" from device manager and assigning manually drivers. System complains but installs them. But then I only have "MSP Application UART1" and CCS can't find the FET.

I have installed it correctly on Windows XP and CCS have just update it's firmware.

On Windows 7 x64, in device manager, the MSP-FET appears as

    USB\VID_2047&PID_0014&REV_0200

    USB\VID_2047&PID_0014

and none of them appears in the inf files.

I'm lost. Never had a problem like this with an USB device.

  • Hi Inigo,

Do you have another Windows 7 x64 machine that you can try this on??

    Thanks,

    David
  • Hello,

CHecked on another Win 7 x64 system. Same problem.

It looks like the is a problem with the USB enumeration. PID values are incomplete/wrong, so the system can't find the correct driver.

    Firmware problem?

  • SOLVED!

In other forum someone solved a similar problem installing manually the drivers for a USB Composite device.

I tried but there was no USB Composite drivers available in my system. So I make a search and found out that the driver for composite devices is in usb.inf, a system file that is in EVERY Windows 7 system in C:\Windows\Inf folder.

But not in mine. Somewhat that file was deleted.

I found it in many places in my system files three, so I copied it to the C:\Windows\Inf folder and reconnected the MSP-FET. It was detected and both correct drivers where installed.

    Thank you. :)
