How to set the internal XCAP as zero in MSP430G27XX?

Hi,

How is the internal xcap's accuracy in MSP430G2XXX?

if my 32.768KHz crystal don't wnat to company with the internal xcap inside of MSP430, how to set it as zero?

i wnat to use external capicators to company with my 32.768khz crystal. Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Erik!

The minimum XCAP setting is 1pF:

But 1pF is almost nothing. Normally the externally connected watch crystal works without any need to set something. You can tune it a bit here. If your crystal does not work, then maybe your layout is critical? Is the crystal far away from the pins? How do you know it is not running?

  • Dear Dennis,

Thanks for your reply, my crystal is working.

But what i concerned is the XCAP's accuracy inside of MSP430, I need to evaluate it for my real time clock.

  • Hi Erik!

It is hard to give an accurate value when dealing with such low capacitances - therefore you get a typical one. You should measure ACLK to tune it to the best setting possible.
