This seems to be a common problem, but none of the solutions I've found seem to work or apply. Many apply to older versions of CCS that don't have the same option sets. (specifically, many indicate I should see a factory reset option in the scripts menu - mine shows "no scripts available."
The out-of-box demo GUI works correctly with the launchpad, so I guess the USB cable and port are OK.
I can see the XDS110 devices in the devices manager.
Driver removal including file deletion and reinstall has no observable effect i can find.
But the updater can not see it

and of course CCS6.2 can't see it either.
I've tried both and old (Black soldermask) revision and newer (Red soldermask) Launchpads to no avail.
Appropriate drivers seem to be installed in CCS.
I'm out of ideas and I've not found any others with searches here or on the wider net.
I'll happily RTFM if I can find which FM to R.
Is the launchpad connected to a USB3 port?Rich Osman said:The out-of-box demo GUI works correctly with the launchpad, so I guess the USB cable and port are OK.
See the "Q: Problems plugging the MSP432 LaunchPad into a USB3.0 Port" entry in the MSP432 FAQ.
Thanks Chester, this is at least part of the answer.
An update for those who come along later;
I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad W520 which has the Renasas USB 3.0 chipset mentioned in the reference FAQ item. I have two of these machings and both exhibited the same issue of showing up in the Device Manager, but not seen by the XDS tools. There were two applicable updates to the USB drivers and both were needed. The Lenovo packages are 8ay210ww "USB Driver Update" and osfl03ww "Registry patch to improve USB device detection on resume from sleep" Teh second once shows as Vista only, but was still needed to get things running on Win 7. That fixed one of the W520s, the other needed the XDS drivers completely removed (by ticking the "delete files" box on the uninstall popup) and reinstalled.
Now xdsdfu -e can see the device.The device manage now complains about the XDS110 CMSIS-DAP in other devices, so off to figure that out.
I now have both W520s running. I had to go into the registry (>shudder<) and delete all the XDS110 USB entries. This was a bit of challenge, but Microsoft's SysInternals PSEXEC (search for PSTOOLS) let me delete all the XDS110 entries for the otherwise invisible USB drivers. Once the drivers reloaded it all seem to work in a stable manner.
