Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler
Hello,
I need to build a breakout board to program a PCB I'm working on. To verify I'm using the correct pins, I have a LaunchPad EXP430FR6989 connected to an external MSP-FET Emulation Tool that I plan to use in Production.
I've disconnected the MSP430 from the ez-FET and the LEDs. I've also changed the pull-up resistor to RST/SWBTDIO to 47k. The capacitor stayed the same (1.1nF). So at this point, I have a standalone MSP430.
I've made the following connections to the MSP-FET (MSP_FET <-> MSP430):
VCC_TOOL <-> 3V3
GND <-> GND
TEST/VPP <-> SBWTCK
RST <-> SWBTDIO
I've also tried leaving the VCC/GND and changing the following:
TDO/TDI <->SWBTDIO
TCK <-> SWBTCK
Neither combination has worked.
1. Can I program the MSP430FR6989 using spy-by-wire?
2. Which of the combinations above should I be using on the programmer (TEST/RST or TDOTDI/TCK)?
3. Which is pin one on the programmer? I know. Silly.
4. Is there anything else I'm missing?
Thanks.
Here's an example for connecting the MSP-FET to the MSP430F5529 LaunchPad (MSP-EXP430F5529LP):
I haven't had the chance to try this out with the FR6989 LaunchPad, but would think it should work the same way.
