MSP-CAPT-FR2633: Errors with the DesignCenter.projectspec in CapTIvateDesignCenter 1.50.00.00

Guru**** 421740 points

Part Number: MSP-CAPT-FR2633

Hello,

I have been assisting a customer who is getting an error when trying to import the DesignCenter project (via DesignCenter.projectspec) into CCS

https://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/612196

The issue was determined to be with the DesignCenter.projectspec file (found in .\ti\msp\CapTIvateDesignCenter_1.50.00.00\CapTIvateDesignCenter\DeviceConfig\SourceTemplates). It is not a valid projectspec file because of tokens like "<CDC_PROJECTSPEC_DEVICE_NAME>". A colleague of mine is guessing that those tokens are meant to be expanded during the generation of this projectspec but it failed and the projectspec was generated with the token unexpanded, hence the issue.

My question is if this projectspec was meant to be imported into CCS. If it is, then it looks like the file is not valid.

Thanks

ki

  • Hello ki,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am looping in a CapTIvate Design Center expert to help investigate.

Edit: The customer should be importing their project from one of the following locations:

    Preferred: C:\Users\[user name here]\CapTIvateDesignCenter_1_50_00_00\CapTIvateDesignCenterWorkspace\CodeSizeOptimized_OneButton

    Optional: C:\ti\msp\CapTIvateDesignCenter_1.50.00.00\CapTIvateDesignCenter\example_projects\CaptivateDesignCenterWorkspace\CodeSizeOptimized_OneButton

I did not have any issues importing to CCS v7.2 from either of these locations.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Yes I don't have problems importing from those locations either. It is just the DesignCenter.projectspec with the issue. The customer is simply going to the root location of the install folder and trying to import everything detected by CCS. Perhaps it is a project not intended to be imported into CCS?

  • Yeah, they shouldn't be attempting to import this into CCS as it is used solely for the Design Center.

    Ryan

Ryan is correct.  This is a template file only and is used by CapTIvate Design Center to generate starter projects that are specific to a user's configuration.

If you are new to the process of creating a CapTIvate Design Center project for a design and using that to generate a starter CCS project, have a look at this training workshop:

  • Got it. Thanks Ryan and Walter!
