What would be longevity for this type of MCU family? It looks like it has been released in 2006. Is it still good for a new product design?

This device is listed as "ACTIVE", I would not worry about its life span.

Actually I am worried as I do suspect that the normal lifespan is about 10-15 years after release. Could someone from TI to confirm it?

Hi,
I can confirm what Mike said before, as it is active it's still good for new designs!
Of course depending on your needs you might find a product that has been released not as long ago, but there's nothing contradicting to use the MSP430FG4616, it's still fully supported.
