I forgot to add, that I am talking about Launch Pads, not just the bare chip.

With regards to the difference between all the various MSP430. How different are they actually? Do I have to start from scratch, if I get a, say, F2433? I can see the user guide is twice as long, which is a bit intimidating for a beginner like me.

For the devices mentioned, the last two have LaunchPads while the first two have target socket boards available for development.

I understand your concerns. Honestly, I guess I never look at the length of the user's guides - I just search them using certain key words related to the module(s) that I'm working on. Since the devices like the MSP430FR2433 are newer than the MSP430G2553, perhaps our documentation has been updated to include things that were missing, unclear, etc. I'm speaking generally here, but I don't really know why one is longer than the other.

When you say "start from scratch", I pointed out the 25 functions resources hoping that one of them would help get you started. We have other code examples that could be referenced too. The MSP430G2553 has been very popular, so there are many posts related to using this device here on E2E. I would encourage you to search here on E2E or using your preferred search engine for topics related to what you'd like to do. Another good resource may be the 43oh.com community.
