MSP-EXP430G2ET: MSP-EXP430G2ET

Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2ET
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83849IVS-EVK, , USB-2-MDIO

Hi

I'm doing an Ethernet communication test with the DP83849IVS-EVK board.

I want to modify the register for changing to LED mode 3

I have  "MSP-EXP430G2ET" LAUNCH PAD

I read "usb-2-mdio software tool" (SNLU 197)

BUT This document is a little different "MSP-EXP430G2ET"

[QUESTION]

Which pin on the "MSP-EXP4300G2ET" board should I connect the MDIO / MDC pins of the DP83849IVS-EVK board?

Could you tell me?

Thanks

from Donell

  • I find connection guide from the Help menu of the program.
BUT THE PHY ID is not found
    What more should I check?
  • Hello,

  • Hi Winter Yu

    Thank you for reply

    and as you know

I am trying to run USB-2-MDIO using the MSP-EXP430G2E2 Launchpad and the DP83849IVS-EVK board.

but I have problems with PHY searching still.

    My conditions is

     1) Connected

       : DP83849IVS-EVK  MDIO/ J1 Pin2  ---- MSP-EXP430G2E2 board MDIO / P1.5

         DP83849IVS-EVK  MDC/ J1 Pin5  ----  MSP-EXP430G2E2 board MDC / P1.4

         and GND PIN connected

     2) On the MSP-EXP430G2E2 board

      : the drivers are installed

: successfully flasehd, down to Launchpad and LED1 and LED2 of fully illuminated

       ( file: usb_2_mdio_G2.HEX)

     3) On the DP83849IVS-EVK board

     :  J36 (PHYAD1) and J37(PHYAD2) => strapped high or open

     4) On USB-2-MDIO

:  PORT can be opened, port status reads "HW connected"

However , when I run the "File -> find PHY ID" , all 32 PHY IDs show "NOI Available"

Could you tell me any idea or what problem?

  • Hi Donell,

As the user's guide said, you should complete "step7:Click Open Port to connect to the MSP430 LaunchPad" firstly, and then run the "File -> find PHY ID" option.

  • Hi Winter

    Thank you for your reply

    I checked step7 ,

Port Status window display "green" and "HW Connected" on "USB-2-MDIO"  program

Is there any possibility that the port can not be connected even under the above conditions?

  • Hi Donell,

I have no more idea about this question. Could you ask a new question in Interface forum? The DP83849IVS belongs to Interface portfolio.
    They will help you.
