MSP430FR6877: About SCG0 of MSP430FR6xxx

Hi community member,

Please tell me about the difference between LPM0 and LPM1 in MSP430FR6xxx.

The difference between LPM0 and LPM1 is whether SCG0 in SR (Status Register) is 0 or 1.
According to Table 4.1 of MSP430FR6xxx User's Guide, SCG0 is described as a bit that disables the FLL function.
However, the MSP430FR6xxx Clock System does not have an FLL.

According to Table 5.6 of Datasheet, LPM1 consumes lower current than LPM0.
Is there a factor other than FLL that causes low current consumption in LPM1?

Hi Cruijff,

Except FLL, FRAM is another big factor that has impact on the total power, in LPM1 the internal LDO will be shut down to save power by default, all circuit around this feature will contribute to the total power.

I understood as follows but is it correct?
SCG0 is a bit for power cutting the internal LDO and its peripheral circuits.

Does the internal LDO refer to the LDO that generates Vcore?

You can think so from the concept, but of course the real logic circuit is very complex.
About your second question, it's not easy to say yes or not, it's about the design details.
