CCS/MSP-FET430UIF: MSP-FET430UIF EMULATOR ERROR (INITIALIZING, RECOGNIZING, CONNECTING ERRORS)

Part Number: MSP-FET430UIF

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I bought MSP-FET430UIF, Rev.2.0.6.

When I connect the emulator with my computer, multiple errors occur.

First, it says "Error Initializing Emulator" and asks me to update the emulator.

Even after the update,

"No USB FET was found", "Could not set device Vcc", "The voltage 1167 value is not connect/allowed for the USB FET", "Interface Communication error", "MSP-FET430UIF already in use"

comes up each time.

I tried to solve this problem based on your previous solutions to similar questions, opening the emulator and connect J5.

However, there is no J5, available to connect in this the most recent version of the board.

Here I attached the image of errors and image of the board.

I did all my best to sol ve this problem but none of them are working.

Please help me. I need to use this emulator ASAP.

  • Hi,

Please make sure the following is in order:

    • The device is plugged into only a USB 2.0 port on your computer (not USB 3.0)
    • There is only 1 FET device plugged into your computer at a time
    • There is only 1 instance of Code Composer installed on your computer at a time

If this does not fix your issue, please answer the following questions:

    • What version of Code Composer Studio do you have installed?
    • Is this an MSP-FET or MSP-FET430UIF?

    -Chris

  • I connected the device to UBS 2.0 port of the computer.
Also I only used 1 FET device at a time and have only 1 Code composer installed on my computer.

I am using Code Composer Studio Version: 9.0.1.00004 .
    I have both MSP-FET430UIF and MSP-FET.
    They have the same problem.

Again, they present the same error,
MSP430: Error initializing emulator: A firmware update is required for the MSP430 Debug Interface (MSP-FET430UIF / MSP-FET / eZ-FET). Click the "Update" button to update the firmware and launch your debug session (this may require several update steps). DO NOT UNPLUG THE INTERFACE DURING THE UPDATE.
  • Hi Jiyoon,

Since they both are presenting an error - that leads me to believe it might be something on your computer causing the issue. For future reference, the MSP-FET is the go-to programmer recommended for new designs.

    • What is the serial number on the back of your MSP-FET? See why this matters (Click here)
    • Make sure the MSP-FET is not plugged into a USB HUB and plugged directly into the computer
    • Are you trying to program a custom board and programming with the MSP-FET via JTAG?

    -Chris

  • Hi Jiyoon.

Are you able to provide the information listed above?

If there is no response, I will assumed you have resolved your issue.

    -Chris
