MSP-FET: MSP-FET device driver problem

Part Number: MSP-FET

I have two identical recent (< 1 month old) MSP-FET modules. They were both working, plugged into the same machine (Windows 10 64 bit). Now one fails to load the correct device driver and all efforts to switch to the correct driver have failed.

In Device Manager the working device (#1) shows as a COM port, with an ID of VID_2047/PID_0014. This works perfectly with IAR EW V7. Therefore the driver (which shows as USBSER.SYS) is installed and working.

The non-working device (#2) shows as "MSP Tools Driver" under "Other Devices" with an ID of VID_0E0F/PID_0001 and the error "No compatible drivers are installed for this device".

If I plug device #2 into a 2nd computer it works!

So my FET device #2 seems to be in working order, but enumerates under the strange vendor ID of 0E0F and thus fails to load the correct driver. I have not been able to switch to the correct driver, probably because the ID's don't match.

Any suggestions as to how to get this device to enumerate itself correctly would be gratefully received..

  • Hi Peter,

As you said, the MSP-FET #2 failed to be recognized by you computer with the correct driver, right?

It seems the MSP-FET #2 itself has no issue, since it worked well on the other computer.

I would suggest you to install TI office IED CCS on your computer and try the MSP-FET #2 again with CCS.

For your IDE tools which is using, can you try to uninstall the IAR and re-install it again? If the issue still occur, I would suggest you to the IAR support forum to get some help about IAR driver.
