MSP430G2230: MSP Flasher fails with "Could not set device Vcc"

Part Number: MSP430G2230
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

We have recently begun production of a new device based on an MSP430 microcontroller. We are using an MSP-FET and MSP Flasher to program the devices.

Our production staff programmed approximately 50 devices earlier this week. Today, I received a report that it wasn't working. I exchanged the MSP-FET device, and this solved the problem. I'm now testing the problematic MSP-FET on my development PC, and it's not working here either.

I use this command line:

MSP430Flasher.exe -w MyProgram.hex -v -g -z [VCC]

It pauses for an unusually long time at "Setting VCC to 3000 mV", then reports "Exit: 44", "ERROR: Could not set device Vcc".

At this time, we sometimes also receive a Windows error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

We were previously using MSP Flasher 1.3.15. I upgraded to version 1.3.20 today, and allowed it to upgrade the firmware on our MSP-FET devices. This did not make any difference that I could see.

Can you offer any advice? Thanks.
