EZ430-F2013: Can it's USB emulator program MSP430FR Devices

Part Number: EZ430-F2013

Hi team,

Can this task be achievable? Goal is to use it to program this http://www.ti.com/tool/DRV8876-Q1EVM with a USB tool.

If not possible, let me know if there is an alternative to it and to using an FR launchpad.

  • Per MSP Debuggers User Guide (SLAU647M) Table 1, no. It can only program F2/G2 series devices, and only some of them. It's not upgradeable, and the FR2 series didn't exist when it was built. (As I recall it programmed more than that list, but only F2s.)

The MSP-FET is an obvious alternative.

I'm not sure why you're rejecting the Launchpads. Any Launchpad with an eZ-FET  -- I think that's all of them except the "old" G2 Launchpad -- programs pretty much any MSP430. It's upgradeable as new devices come out. And it'll be cheaper than an MSP-FET.

  • Hi Bruce,

Thank you, we will not consider it for programming the EVM.

I was looking for any other dedicated option such as this USB tool. The Launchpads will suffice.

    Thank you
