MSP-EXP430G2ET: Connecting MSP-EXP430G2ET with RF430FRL152HEVM GUI

Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2ET
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP-7970ABP, UNIFLASH, , RF430FRL152HEVM

Hi! Thanks in advance because I really need your help on this.

I've bought  MSP-EXP430G2ET, DLP-7970ABP and RF430FRL152HEVM. I've used UniFlash to insert the TRF7970out file to the SP-EXP430G2ET.

Then I power cycle the MSP-EXP430G2ET by pulling usb out and insert it again. Then I place the these three modules just as GUI shows.

But I still cannot connect the MSP-EXP430G2ET to GUI.

I've tried: 1. Change the MSP-EXP430G2ET COM number to 1 and 2

                2. Set the S3-S6 on RF430FRL152HEVM as shown.

Can someone help me on this? Thanks a lot!

  • Hi,

Do you set the UART to hardware mode in MSP430G2ET Lanuchpad?

    Best Regards

    Johnson

  • Dear Johnson,

    Thank you for your reply.

Here is my jumper configuration, is that correct? I still cannot connect to the GUI...

  • Hi Johnson,

In case I misunderstood, I also tried this jumper configuration:

Then I repeat the process again (from Uniflash insertion, to usb plug out, usb plug in, GUI connecting).

But the GUI still shows no response...

  • Hi Johnson, sorry to bother you again.

I'm wondering whether my uniflash setting is correct. Because previously I didn't chose "binary" as shown in following picture:

But if I choose "binary", the load just failed... So do I need to choose the "binary" in Uniflash?

  • Hi,

Don't need choose "binary" when you download code.

I'm sorry to provide some error message about G2553 lanuchpad UART hardware mode, I double check found this set should as follow:

Did you flash the correct binary from this download: www.ti.com/.../sloc346

And you can try to change COM to test again, and tried running the GUI as an Admin.

Attach some link maybe useful for you:

    Best Regards

  • Dear Johnson,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I followed each step you said and it works now (don't know which step is efficient lol).

BTW, UART of my MSP430G2ET launchpad is just like this:

Again, thank you very much for your help and have a nice day! :-)
