MSP430FR6877: Failure in reading data from MFRC522

Hi Ahmed,

You indicated you can communicate via SPI with the MFRC522 successfully, so would lead me to think it is not MSP430.

Is this the first time you are using this device?  Did you design the antenna layout?  Are you sure you have the RF configured correctly?

I used MFCV520 before, it is the same. For the antenna design, it was done by hardware engineer, I am not sure about it.

What I noticed when I tested both of them, the working MFCV520 and the not working MRFC522, was that the ComIrqReg had the value 0x64 while using MFCV520 and 0x14 while using MRFC522, which meant idle for MRFC522.

And as I said, even the self test is not working, the FIFO count is always 0.

And TxControlReg has to be set to 0x03 to enable Tx1 and Tx2, but when I read it after it is set, I find its value the reset value which is 0x80. Also when I read the Status2Reg, I find its value 0 which means idle.

Since the interface between the MSP430 and MFRC522 is SPI, the MSP430 controls when data is read by clocking data out on MOSI pin and reads data in on MISO.  How does the MSP430 know when to ready data from the MFRC522 in order to capture data in its FIFO?  Is there an interrupt pin from MFRC522 that indicates when data is available?
