MSP430F5658:A custom battery programer hardware on bq studio

Part Number: MSP430F5658
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi everyone, well I was looking at the ti ev2300 battery programmer design files and I noticed that it is powered by a msp430f552x series processor, but from what I was seeing, I realized that the F552x processor has only two i2c / smbus inputs , and I need three to my application, was what led me to make custom hardware with the F5658 because it has the necessary ports for my application, but I would like to know if this processor will work with bq studio since they have the same architecture varying just because he is have a few more doors ...? I await any response.

  • Hello Nilton,

It may be possible but it may take a lot of edits to the firmware code and may end up being impossible.

I will check with someone else on the team to see their opinion.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Nilton,

This is quite difficult to do.

In order to talk to bqStudio, you'll really need to understand the USB descriptors which we cannot provide to you.

I suggest just doing something generic and having a generic GUI if you want to do this yourself and not make it compatible with bqStudio.

    Thanks!
