Is the following external oscillator available?
- which include Spread spectrum function
Center Spread: ±0.25%, ±0.5%, ±1.0%,±1.5%, ±2.0%, ±2.5%
- Freq: 24MHz

I’ve looked at this oscillator spec, and we don’t specify anything about center frequency spread, but we do specify max frequencies. Table 5.14 shows max frequency of 24 MHz input. Also, it’s noted that the “max frequency of operation the entire device can not be exceeded.” This is give in the Recommended operating conditions as 24MHz.
Therefore, they shouldn’t use any crystal that has a chance of being over 24MHz. I think they should lower the center frequency of their crystal to leave room for these crystal tolerances. As for the spread of the crystals, that shouldn’t have any impact on the MSP430 as an MCU, but they may notice these timing differences in their application since the MSP430s will be running at varying speeds. If their application can handle the +-2.5% variation in frequency, then it should be fine.
