MSP430F2011: what is the Pin13 function in MSP430F2011IRSAR

Part Number: MSP430F2011

Dear Sir/Madam,

Understand PIN13 of MSP430F2011IRSAR is advice to be NC in the datasheet. However, one of my customer using it as a comparison between good and bad device during FA.
"Observed the good device do not have any voltage on Pin13 which meet our current drain limit. But for those failed units, we found that pin13 having 1.65V. Can you help to explain why the same device can give 2 differents symptom?"

Possible to let us know the function for this PIN13 for MSP430F2011IRSAR device?

thank you.

kpk

  • Does "not any voltage" mean "0 V relative to VSS" or "floating"?

1.65 V is exactly half of 3.3 V. Are you using that as VCC?

On the F2012/F2013 variants, pin 13 is AVSS. So on the F2011, it's probably connected to some unused ADC silicon.

  • Dear kpk,

I checked the bond diagrams of the MSP430F2011IRSA device and can confirm that pin #13 and pin #15 are not bonded to the DIE as described in the datasheet.
I also checked F2012 and F2013 and here the pins are banded as described in the datasheet.

So what ever you measure on this pins is floating it open and not connected to anywhere on silicon.

In such case a x-ray analysis might help to see if maybe something is wrong with the bond wires I assume you're already in contact with local quality people so please request a FA with focus on bonding.

    Best regards,
    Dietmar

  • Hi kpk,

do you have any furhter question or can we close this thread?
