CapTIvate projects for CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY

Hello,

We want to evaluate CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY; however, we cannot find the sample code for CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY.
In the outdated version like v1.70, it seems that Captivate Design Center included sample codes for CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY; however, the latest version doesn't include projects for CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY?

Could you tell me the way to evaluate CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY?
And, could you tell me the reason why the sample codes ware deleted?

If there is another solution to evaluate proximity application.
We want to detect 10cm space between a sensor and a hand.

Best Regards,
Nomo

CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY, sample code

  • Hello Nomo,

You are correct. The proximity examples in CapTIvate Design Center v1.70 have been removed in the latest version because it is very difficult to achieve 10cm proximity distance reliably due to so many factors that can affect a systems sensitivity. A more realistic proximity is 2-3 cm under ideal conditions, such as large size and the minimum surrounding parasitic coupling to ground. Therefore it was decided to no longer promote proximity and so the examples were removed. We also no longer manufacture the CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY PCB that came with the CapTIvate Evaluation kit.

Now this doesn't mean you can't implement a proximity sensor as part of your design. The CapTIvate Design Center still allows you to create and tune a proximity sensor as well as generate the application code. So tell me a little bit about what you are trying to do with proximity and perhaps I can guide you through the steps.
  • Hello Dennis-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I could understand the latest status of proximity solutions.

    Best Regards,
    Nomo
