Hi,

We are trying to use our Launchpad as an interface to our PC for another system and having difficulties. To ask a simple question, how do you get printf() working for the Launchpad? We have tried the following -

Procedure:

New CCS Project
Add 'printf()' to main()

This is not printing to the CCS or serial consoles, how does this work? We have dove through both references to no avail, is this a simple config adjustment?

Can you share your code? Are you expecting the printf() output through the UART? That is not how it works. It output via the console and the debugger.

Yep!

Procedure

Plug in Launchpad & record COM (App:COM31, Debug:COM32)
Open CCS (v9.2.0.00013)
New->CCS Project->MSP430F5529 [1]
Add code [2]
Debug inspect w/breakpoint
1. CCS Console check
2. PuTTy console check (try 9600 & 115200 baud)

In this case the program might be shutting down before the buffer is flushed. Try putting in a while(1){} at the end to get an endless loop and add an flush() to print the buffer.

Maybe you should try flushing stdout. 8^)

Close! We were able to use this reference to achieve CCS console print -

COM port transfer is not working though, thoughts?

You need to write your own.

Or Check out the display example in the simplelink SDK under "drivers"
