UCC2626: Thermal operating temperature

Part Number: UCC2626

Hi,

We are using UCC2626PW motor control IC. While simulating thermal Analysis at 75°C, we are getting component temperature of 84°C which is closed to operating temperature of the IC which is 85°C. Does that mean if the temperature of IC is increased by 1°C, the IC may fail in operation. Or else I need to compare this temperature with Junction temperature which is 150°C.

Please help regarding this.

Regards,

Kumar

  • Hi Kumar,

Our team will aim to provide an answer on this by middle of next week. Thanks!

  • Hey Kumar,

    Thank you for your patience.

The junction temperature of 150 °C is the absolute maximum rating of the device whereas the 85 °C is the highest recommended operating condition.  The recommended range is where the device will operate reliably and deliver the optimum performance stated in the datasheet. If used outside the Recommended Operating Conditions but within the Absolute Maximum Ratings, the device may not be fully functional, and this may affect device reliability, functionality, performance, and shorten the device lifetime.

I hope this offers some clarification.

    Best Regards,

    Akshay
