DRV8245H-Q1EVM: nFAULT state when on power

Part Number: DRV8245H-Q1EVM

Hi team,

I am connecting the DRV8245H-Q1EVM with an external MCU. So I have removed all the 0 ohm resistor in area 1. I am trying the independent mode, so I gave nSLEEP, IN1 3.3V voltage and IN2, DRVOFF 0V as the datasheet says. But when i gave the VM, the nFAULT light (D2) stays on and the ic in sleep mode. Can you help me figure out what the problem is?

By the way, the VM is 10V which is stable, the 3.3V on ic is stable too. The out1 connect to a 8 ohm resistor, the out 2 connect to a 20 ohm resistor.

Thanks!

Best Regards

Daoming

  • Hey Daoming,

Thanks for giving detailed diagrams on your issue and setup.

Did you try placing a jumper for IPROPI on the board, setting it in conjunction with the ITRIP level jumper as detailed in the datasheet or User's Guide?   I would also place one on the SLEW RATE and DIAG selectors as well.  The DRV8245H is the hardware version of the board so these will be set through the jumpers not SPI communication.

Are you sending the Reset pulse on the nSLEEP pin?  Check out 7.7.2 Wake-up Transients

  • Hi Jacob,

Thanks for replying! The problem solved. I did not give the wake-up transient to DRV8245. I need to read the datasheet more carefully next time!

    Best regards,
