DRV8316: When the NPOR bit is set and how to clear it

Hi,

After initializing the DRV8316 registers, when I read the IC_Status register, the NPOR bit was set to 1.

Q1.Please tell me when the NPOR bit is set.

Q2. Is there any problem in operation even if the NPOR bit is set?

Q3.Is there a way to clear the NPOR bit? Setting the CLR_FLT bit in Control_Register_2 to 1 did not clear the NPOR bit.

Hey Astro,

1) the NPOR bit is set when there is AVDD under voltage or VM under voltage being detected.

2) The NPOR bit is set to 1 when there is no under voltage being detected so it is correct for it to be set to 1.

3) Please refer to point 2). Usually to clear faults you can use CLR_FLT bit or by using an nSLEEP pin reset pulse.

NPOR=0 when VM or AVDD falls below the reference voltage.
If the undervoltage has cleared, NPOR=1 is set by setting the CLR_FLT bit=1.
Is the above understanding correct?

Hey Astro,

You are correct, if NPOR = 0 then under voltage has occurred on VM or AVDD and if NPOR = 1 then it means no under voltage has occurred.

The NPOR bit remains in reset condition until cleared through the CLR_FLT bit or an nSLEEP pin reset pulse (tRST).

Please refer to section 8.3.14.1, and Table 8-13 of the following datasheet for more information.
