MCT8316ZTEVM: HPC pulls digital hall signal to GND

I'm evaluating the MCT8316ZT using the EVM, however I'm unable to properly control a motor. It seems that when using the HPx connectors for digital hall signals, the HPC line is always 0V regardless of motor position and which hall phase of the motor is connected to it. HPA and HPB work fine. I don't measure any voltage across J10 (corresponding to HPC), while J8 and J8 measure approximately 3.3V.

Fix seems to be to use an external pull-up and not use the jumper J10 for HPC. Is this a manufacturing fault of the EVM?

Daan,

Apologies for the delayed response. Connecting J10 pulls the HPC to AVDD via R38. Can you check if R38 is populated in your board? Since we already have a pull up, I'm not sure how adding an external pull up resolves the issue.

R38 is populated on the board, but there might be a faulty connection on the PCB. The solution I found bypasses J10/R38 and uses an external pull up instead. Note that this is only needed for HPC, J8 and J9 seem to work fine.

Daan,

Glad that you found a workaround. I don't think this could be a faulty routing because the Altium tool would flag an error if the connections are routed inaccurately.
