DRV8876: PSPICE model and simulation of the current limiting function

Hello,

I am trying to use the PSPICE simulation model of the DRV8876 for current limiting/regulation purpose. See my schematic below:

So whatever the value of the resistor installed on the IPROPI, I cannot change the current limit or regulation value. With the actual schematic, the current value is around 1.5 A again whatever the resistor:

So can you tell me if the PSPICE model is good for that purpose or evaluation?

Unfortunately, current regulation does not work with this model. It was never incorporated.

Hi,

Since Ryan is OoO, let me jump in. For current regulation behavior, we'd better to check it with real silicon like TI evaluation module.

Hi Shinya,

I've just received an evaluation module, but as you know it is quite interesting to have a simulation model nearby the hardware to have the best of the both worlds to save lab test time.

So if I well understood no one simulation model is available at TI when working in current mode? Am I right?

Good to know you have EVM. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

Current regulation is analog feedback loop operation. Unfortunately the simulation model with DRV families do not work well. Your understanding is correct.
