DRV8912-Q1: Typical inrush current values with a 12V, 5W motor.

Part Number: DRV8912-Q1

Dear TI team.

We have got an application by using a DRV8912-Q1 supplied to 12V by using a motor 5W, we are using the values for decoupling capacitance as per typical application and also using external resistor instead of 47uH inductor for regulation.

During testing we found inrush currents up to 13A with a 165us duration, are this value Ok for inrush current according the application? if not, could you please share the limits or expected inrush current values for a 5W, 12V motor?

Also appreciated any advice to improve this inrush if is out of specification, unfortunately we not have option in our application to have soft starting or integrated load switches as will require qualification, so at this time, looking for operational improvements and or defining if is a real concern or not.

Looking for your feedback.

Thanks
