DRV8705H-Q1EVM: ADC used in the microcontroller

Hey Mohit,

You would probably have to modify the firmware for it.  You could add a breakpoint at the end of the updateSOReading() function in brushed.c.  Compile the code in CCS, upoad it and enter debug mode, connect EVM to the GUI, get the motor to the speed you want, then enable the breakpoint.  

Or instead of a breakpoint you could have the firmware print the ADC value to the Serial Monitor.  This might be harder because I don't think you could have serial monitor readout with the EVM also connected to GUI for control.

Ahh yes you will need the MSP-FET tool for this EVM, my apologies.  Or you could use a XDS-110 or potentially another hardware debugger if you have one.

Can I order it from samples.ti.com?

Apologies, I was wrong, the XDS110 will not work for the MSP430 on this EVM.  Looks like the MSP-FET tool is the only option. 

You can have your purchasing person order the MSP-FET from the normal TI store like you would for any item from Digikey/Mouser etc. It is not available on the samples store.

Instead I have ordered an external Microcontroller MSPM0L1306 to control the motor driver. Can you please provide any example code to output the ADC value from the external Microcontroller?

How do I run an example code from the CCS? and is it possible to run a code to drive the motor?

If possible can you also provide the code to print the value of ADC from the Microcontroller (the digital value of the ADC)?

Hi Jacob, I think I am facing a similar issue with MSPM0L1306 when I am trying to print the ADC value to the serial monitor. Do you think it is possible to read out the ADC register value in the CCS itself?
