MCF8316AEVM: MCF8316AEVM Issues Reading/Writing EEPROM

Hello,

I am having some issues reading and writing to the EEPROM for the MCF8316AEVM. I can communicate to the board via the GUI but when I tried to run the MPET or the quick spin function, nothing happened. When I investigated further, I used the I2C Target Address button to try to locate the proper address but this did not work either. I only get an "Initial Read Failed" error.

Hi Antonio,

Can you provide which GUI and GUI version you are using?

Which LED on the EVM lights up when you connect the EVM to the GUI is it D6 or D7?

Hi Antonio,

Please provide information requested by Joshua to help us to root cause. When GUI connected do you see your board (device) is detected properly? Which LED is up?

If you are using EVM which works with earlier GUI (Not the Motor studio based) then you need to update the FW of MSP430.

Hi Josh, D7 is the LED that lights up on the board when I connect to the GUI.

Hi Antonio,

Are you using the Motor Studio GUI? If you are not either download and use the Motor Studio GUI or you can follow this EVM Firmware Compatibility FAQ to reprogram your EVM to work with the GUI Composer GUI, please do keep in mind that the latest GUI is the Motor Studio GUI.
