Dear experts,
While analyzing the DRV8462-Q1 it is clear that it has a wide array of useful features. However, one of the main constraints in the design we are working on is the IC's ability to withstand the harsh environment in low earth orbit.
I am familiar with SEP (Space enhanced plastic) parts that TI offers:
Reduce the Risk in Low-Earth Orbit Missions with Space Enhanced Plastic Products (Rev. A)
Space design resources | TI.com
However, I am unable to find any SEP motor drivers. Due to this we are designing the driver for our stepper motors discretely, however if there are any parts in the pipeline or part replacements that could help us overcome the challenges and provide higher reliability, I am more than open to suggestions. Additionally, if there are any simpler parts, or parts capable of handling 4 stepper motors with SEP considerations I would love to hear some suggestions.
Sincerely,
Pedro Arango Ramirez
Hey Pedro,
There is the UC1637-SP, a Switched Mode Controller for DC Motor Drive. I pulled it from the TI Space Products 2023 Guide
Beyond that I will direct this question to a Space Products team, as they would have better insight on any upcoming space-rated parts.
Best,
Jacob
Hey Jacob,
Thank you for the suggestion. I should have shared my voltage requirements beforehand. We are running off a 28V input supply. I'll wait for a response from the Space Products team.
Thanks!

Hey Pedro,
Unfortunately my group doesn't have anything that will help you out in this application either.
Thanks,
Daniel
