MCT8329A: Compatibility with MotorStudio GUI

Dear TI Team,

I have a question regarding the compatibility of the MCT8329A with the motor studio GUI. As stated in this FAQ, the MotorStudio GUI currently only supports the MCF products of the MCx family, is there any plans to add support for the MCT products, specifically the MCT8329A? This question is born especially out of the fact that in my experience so far the GUI for the MCT8329A is more unreliable than for the MCT8316A and that ontop of that in the Motor Status section only the Algorithm State is displayed, the other values not being shown despite being read correctly via I2C out of the registers.

Another unrelated and minor issue is that during the guided tuning, in the external clock section the MCT8316A is mentioned instead of the MCT8329A once.

    Hello Simon,

    We do plan on adding the MCT8329A and our other sensorless trapezoidal devices onto Motor Studio.

    Thank you for pointing out the current GUIs issues related to the MCT8329A's connectivity, Motor Status display, and that the MCT8316A is mentioned in the external clock section in the guided tuning, we will look into them.

    thank you for your swift response, unfortunately I was OOO until today so I couldn't get back to you. Are you able to give me a rough ETA on when support for the trapezoidal motor drivers will be added or is it in too much of an early stage to know for sure?

    Hi Simon,

    At this time we are in too early of a development stage to be able to provide an expected date when we will add support for the trapezoidal motor drivers to the Motor Studio GUI.
