DRV8243-Q1: current sense on low side FET

Part Number: DRV8243-Q1

Dear team,

How does drv8243-Q1 implement low-side FET current detection?

I can only see the current sense of high-side FET in the block diagram. But from datasheet "8.6.1.3 STATUS1 Register", the low-side FET current sensing is also possible. Could you pls explain the detection mechanism?

Thanks!

  • Hi Mingkang,

The table you attached is referring to the OCP protection and doesn't have to do anything with current sensing. For OCP it is usually based of the VDS voltage on the FETs, which is compared to the OCP threshold (Iocp*Rdson). In this case the current sensing is used for current regulation:

Let me know if there are further questions.

    Best,
