DRV8718-Q1: different power supply for 8 half-bridge

hi expert

as we known, DRV8718 has total 8 half-bridge controllers. if customer want to use different power rail to supply different half bridge externa MOS, is it OK? and how to deal with the connection between DRAIN pin and different power rail?

    Hi, 

    Thank you for your questions. Basically DRV8718-Q1 is designed to be used same voltage level for all 8ch HB(half bridge), PVDD and DRAIN pin.

    DRAIN pin connection is important for high side FET's VDS over current protection. If DRAIN pin is not connected to same voltage level as FET's Drain, VDS over current detection does not work correctly.

    In some customer's usecase, I saw each HB has slightly different power rail voltage (e.g 0.1V) due to routing etc. Then can be durable by adjusting each VDS_LVL level. However, basically PVDD and each HB's supply should be same or similar voltage.
