MCF8316AEVM: new purchase of EVM doesn't have the new MCF8316C-Q1 installed

Part Number: MCF8316AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8316C-Q1, MCF8316A,

Hello!

I've just purchased a new MCF8316AEVM expecting to get the new MCF8316C-Q1 chip installed because of this answer in FAQ site:

But the EVM has the old MCF8316A installed which doesn't allow I2C speed change, which is one of the requirements of my design.

What happened? How can I get a properly working EVM, with the MCF8316C-Q1?

Regards!

Lien

  • Hi Lien,

We are still in the process of pulling the EVM stock and coordinating the board rework. The current MCF8316AEVM inventory are still populated with MCF8316A. I don't have an estimate of when the EVM will be restocked with the C variants, but it will probably be at least few weeks from now.

You could order free sample of MCF8316C-Q1 IC from TISamples and swap the device on the EVM yourself, since they are pin-to-pin compatible.

    Regards,
    Eric C.

  • Thank you Eric, we will request the samples, and we will swap it in our EVboard.

We keep waiting for the EVM board with the C-Q1 for other locations.

This is why we choose TI for our projects.  :))

  • Dear Eric, for some reason I don't know, when I try to request samples of the MFC8316C-Q1 an error message appears:

Is there any way to get those samples delivered?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Lien,
