MCT8329EVM: lead angle control

Part Number: MCT8329EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCT8329A

Hello Experts,

My customer is evaluating MCT8329A. Customer would like to confirm lead angle control feature. Customer tried to change bit 8-1 of CLOSED_LOOP1 Register. Customer is monitoring a following waveform and customer did not see any changing. Would you tell how to use lead angle control feature in the GUI, please?

ch1: FGOUT
ch2: V phase voltage
ch3: U phase voltage
ch4: U phase current

  • Hi Fujiwara-san,

The lead angle can be adjusted by going into the All Tuning Setting page then Control Configuration - Closed Loop and adjusting the LD_ANGLE option to the desired angle:

Adjusting the lead angle should affect the power consumption of the motor, given the same speed and load, by changing the amount of phase current that is required by the motor.

If adjusting the LD_ANGLE is not leading to any change in the amount of phase current when the motor is operating, can the customer try writing the LD_ANGLE to EEPROM with the motor stopped, power cycling the MCT8329A, then reading the EEPROM and make sure the LD_ANGLE is set to that was written to EEPROM?

    Regards,

    Joshua

  • Hi Joshua-san,

Customer tried to change the value of LD_ANGLE as you mentioned, but LD_ANGLE did not change. Then customer tried to input directly the value of LD_ANGLE at Field View of Register Map page. Then customer could change the value. Is this GUI issue?

  • Hi Fujiwara-san,

The LD_ANGLE slider does appear to be bugged. I will note that this slider needs to be fixed so that it updates the register when adjusted. Thank you for relaying this information!
