DRV10983EVM: Can't spin motor

Hello Team,

I am trying to spin a motor using DRV10983 EVM, behavior is as shown. Seems EVM tries to "Align" but never switches to "Go"

Attached is a video, as well as motor configuration file used in the GUI.

I would like to add that the GUI shows Lock Code 0: Current limit. I try other motor and got exact similar results

Hi Mohamed,

After align it may will proceed to open loop , please share the CFG I will try to apply basic configuration which may work. Can you share motor parameters along with configuration file used?

I already shared the CFG, and I am sharing again. I already adjusted to the basic startup configuration as per the tuning guide.

Sorry, the previous message was sent by mistake. Attached is the CFG.

Phase resistance = 1.2 Ohm, Kt = 16 mV/Hz.. Phase reluctance is 245 uH

Now a strange behavior is noticed, it seems the VCC, Gnd, U, V, W of the EVM are all short circuited, i.e, resistance between any of them is almost zero. This happened suddenly.

Hi Mohamed,

Any possible over stress to the device? Did motor stopped abruptly?

The CSV you shared shows 205mV for Kt .

Have you followed tuning guide to measure the parameter?

Please refer to the tuning guide, DRV10983 and DRV10975 Tuning Guide (Rev. D) (ti.com)

Hi Venkatadri,

For some reason, after I adjust the parameters and save the CFG, it is not saved with the new parameters. I followed the tuning guide, this is how I got the values shared in the previous message. All my trials are with the adjusted parameters as shared before. Anyhow, I have to give up on the DRV10983 for the time being. This is my second EVM that goes bad for unclear reasons, and the lead time to get a new one is so long, with no guarantees it will work at the end. I can't sacrifice more of the development time.
