Hi Team,

I would like to know if MCF8315C EVM only can use Motor studio GUI and can't use this old GUI? https://dev.ti.com/gallery/info/BLDC/MCF8315A_GUI/

I can use MCF8315C link to old GUI but I can't control it, and I can't use motor studio GUI link to this EVM.(But maybe my motor studio set up have some issue here),any comments you can let me know!

Hi Jenson,

The MCF8315EVM is preprogrammed to work with Motor Studio. If you would like to, you can reprogram the EVM to work with the old GUI using the instructions in this E2E FAQ: https://e2e.ti.com/support/motor-drivers-group/motor-drivers/f/motor-drivers-forum/1281363/faq-motor-studio-gui---evm-firmware-compatibility

For connecting the EVM to Motor Studio, can you download and install the FTDI VCP drivers from the following link: https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/? Also, if you are not already using the 0.1.18 version of Motor Studio, please download the latest version of Motor Studio from ti.com.

tks for the comment here,

as i check, the MCF8315C EVM will light up the D7 at the beginning . but it can connect with the MCF8315A_GUI but can not operate any register .

and without any change, we connect to MOTOR STUDIO ,it can not identify and process without feedback, that is weird.

Hi Allen,

Would you mind explaining the connection to Motor Studio a bit more so I can get a better understanding of the issue? What feedback is provided that allows Motor Studio to identify the MCF8315C?

Since D7 is lit, the firmware in the MCU on the EVM cannot correctly process commands sent by the MCF8315A_GUI but the GUI will still recognize that an EVM is connected. This is why the GUI shows the EVM is connected yet it cannot program the MCF8315C.
