Part Number: DRV8711

1. How is the configuration of the different motor register parameters different?

2. What parameters are required to be configured when driving the motor?

3. When the motor is running, the wrong indicator is always flashing.

4. Is there any significant damage to the motor without error checking?

5. Is there a driver to refer to?

  • Hi Meng jeffrey,

    1. How is the configuration of the different motor register parameters different?

Can you explain in more detail?
Have you read www.ti.com/.../slva632 and www.ti.com/.../slva637

    2. What parameters are required to be configured when driving the motor?

Please refer to the comment above.

    3. When the motor is running, the wrong indicator is always flashing.

Is the fault pin asserted? Have you read the status register to determine the fault?

    4. Is there any significant damage to the motor without error checking?

There can be. It depends on the settings.

    5. Is there a driver to refer to?

Can you explain? What type of driver are you referring to?
  • Can you give me some details about the STD and STDLAT in STATUS registers? Is it possible to disable the stall test by a program?
  • Hi Meng,

The STD and STDLAT bits are stall status indicators. The two bits have no effect on device operation.

The stall circuitry can be disabled by setting:
EXSTALL to 1 <-- this will disable the STALLn bit
    or
    VDIV to 32
    SDTHR to 255
SDCNT to Stall asserted after 8 <-- if using internal stall detection, the value is now at the maximum
