Hi,

I ask you info for a demo where we have to drive a 48V BLDC motor with 50A RMS currents

Wanting to use the following evaluation board LAUNCHXL-F28379D as a calculation unit, I was wondering if, as an evaluation board for the power part, the BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS is the best performing you have or if there is something different to interface to the calculation.

Surely we will have to provide heat sinks on the mosfets as well as review the sense resistors, but maybe there is something better that I have not seen.

Maybe we have more suitable EVB, Ref Design for this purpose?

Hi Antonio,

The DRV8323RS EVM is designed for 15A continuous/20A peak H-Bridge output current. The power path, including the sense resistors, traces, and connectors are only going to be rated for this as well. I would recommend designing a board for this demo using the DRV8353RS which has more headroom (rated for 100V) for your target voltage than the 60V part. Here are a couple app notes containing reference designs that may help. The first uses the DRV8353, and the second uses the DRV8323:

TIDA-010056 54-V, 1.5 kW, >99% Efficient, 70x69 mm2 power stage reference design for 3-phase BLDC drives

TIDA-00774 18V/1kW, 160A Peak, >98% Efficient, High Power Density Brushless Motor Drive Reference Design

These contain design files and procedures for a system board that would much better suit your target specs than the DRV8323RS EVM. It is also probably worth it to note that the DRV8353 EVM is also only rated for 15A continuous/20A peak output current.
