Using Windows 10 w/CCS 10. After finding out the hard way CCS does not work with the MSP-EXP430G2 I broke down and ordered a MSP-EXP430G2ET kit.

I then added the BOOST-DRV8711 add on. I was able to rebuild and flash the code after downloading slvc575b from ti web site.

Installed BOOST-DRV8711_GUIv1.0 and launched.

The GUI app launched but always seemed to want to default to the DEBUG interface instead of the APP uart.

After some messing around I got it to select the APP uart at 9600 but now getting this error:

What is going on?

I tried interactive debug but it never seems to hit any of the breakpoints.

I am going to move this to the MSP430 forum and see if they have any ideas on this error.

pretty much determined the BOOT-DRV8711 software does not work in any configuration on any platform.

Ether on the original MSP430 value line dev kit nor the MSP-EXP430G2ET kit.

I even went so far as to load up a Windows 7 32bit VM with all the original software (CCS 5.5 and GUI composer) ... still constantly errors out.

Is there ANY configuration where this stepper motor driver software works?

Hi,

I'm not familiar with BOOT-DRV8711. Just a hint for you:

From the DRV8711's user guide, For the MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad, remove the P1.0 and P1.6 (LED1 and LED2) jumpers for correct operation of the POT and SDO signals of the BoosterPack. The TXD and RXD jumpers should be aligned horizontally (yellow arrows in Figure 4) for operation of the hardware UART with a software application.

For MSP-EXP430G2ET you need set hw-uart and remove J6 and J7.

Please check the hw settings.
