TPS3850-Q1: Functional safety information - ASIL Application possible?

Hi,

what does the last statement in the Functional safety information of the TPS3850-Q1 says about the usage in ASIL (here) B says?
"TPS3850-Q1 is a catalog product and not compliant to ISO-26262 standards."

After good experices with the supervisor in a QM project we consider it for an ASIL B application. Any restrictions here?

No, there are no restrictions using the TPS3850-Q1 for your ASIL B application.

Hi Steven,

ICs with ASIL-A through ASIL-D ratings follow the ISO-26262 processes. All other devices are catalog and can be only be categorized as Functional Safety Capable which is not compliant to ISO-26262.

No worries, I am glad to be of help! Yes, "Functional Safety Capable" is not a part of the ISO 26262 but adding the TPS3850-Q1 into your design to help increase the application's ASIL rating is possible with a part that is categorized as a "Functional Safety Capable".
