Hi,

We are using TPS2456RHHT for 12V oring in our design.Please tell us which supply will be selected in case of both are same.As in previous replies you have mentioned that 13mV hysteresis is there, but 13mV is very less and may cause the supplies switching very fast.Please let us know how TPS2456RHHT will deal with such scenario.

How's that done.There is no provision in TPS2456 for this as per data sheet.Also for 10ms holdup time what would be the bulk capacitors on the output.

Hi Ramesh,

There might be a few possible ways to implement priority power MUXing architecture in TPS2456.

1) Connecting /PGA and ENB together,

2) ENA and ENB are in complementary fashion,

3) Effective use of ORENx signal when the 2 supplies are very close to each other (<FET body diode VF).

However, these possibilities are not verified in hardware. Please test before finalizing the solution. I would like to again recommend TPS25947 here. Implementation of priority power MUXing architecture is much simpler and verified in the hardware.

Is there any issue in using TPS2456 like getting obsolete or will not support the desired functioanlity.

We have not verified this MUXing functionality in hardware yet for TPS2456. We would like to request you to verify your test cases on the EVM before finalizing the solution.

Hi Avhishek,

Our requirement is 4.5A@12V. Will the suggested module TPS25947 be able to handle it as its RON = 28.3 mΩ ,which is very high.

TPS25947 is suitable for your requirements as it is rated for the load current of 5.5 A.
