TL7660: is there a datasheet Figure 10. "Combined Negative-Voltage Converter and Positive-Voltage Doubler" sample SPICE deck to use with "PSpice for TI" ?

Does the application team have a Pspice deck available that supports the TL7660 "Figure 10 Negative - Positive" combination that I could run in PSpice for TI? Do you also have a Spice model for the TL7660i (full temperature range)? I had used an older/similar Maxim Integrated IC in 2005 (that now costs too much).

Is there any recommendations for an alternative IC in the product line that can produce both positive and negative (aka inverted) voltages from +5Vdc?

Meanwhile, I was also looking for suggestion on the diodes from figure 10 - please respond.

Hello James,

Possible other recommendations are dependent on the input voltage range, the needed output voltages and the maximum output current. An idea could be TPS6512x family of devices: https://www.ti.com/product/TPS65120

Or TPS65135 although both are inductive converters, they might be interesting.

For charge pumps, LM2664 might be an option.

The diodes in the application need to handle the output current and need to have low forward voltage drop. You can use standard diodes or Schottky diodes. If you are using Schottky diodes, check out the parasitic capacitance as this can have a negative influence.

Question: I saw TPS60401-Q1 URL TPS6040x-Q1 Unregulated 60-mA Charge Pump Voltage Inverter datasheet (Rev. B) (ti.com) - page 17 figure 29

" as Doubler/Inverter" diagram. Is that a newer IC than the TL7660 ? Does the same Schottky diode comments as on the TL7660 apply?

I was also wondering why does TI not have any pspice for TI model support for the charge pump power solutions?

Hello Jim,

For the diodes used with the TPS6040x, the same comments are valid as for the TL7660.

Ok Brigette: I will use ceramic capacitors (saw other e2e messages) on the TL7660I -

1) I plan to use a Diodes DFLS120L with 75pF "Total capacitance" -- is that what you refer to as parasitic capacitance?

2) I still would like to know why TI does not have any SPICE simulation support for these switched capacitor inductorless charge pump ICs?

1. yes, this is the parasitic capacitance I referred to.

2. pSpice model creation is not for free, so we need to prioritize which devices get one.
