[FAQ] BQ25120A: What is shipmode and why do I need it?

Part Number: BQ25120A

Shipmode is the state of the device where is in the lowest power consumption. After manufacturing, the product will be on storage for a long time before reaching the consumers hands. Nowadays, we want to use the device out of the box, without the need to wait for it to charge. In order to save battery capacity during the shelf/ship life, the device is placed on ship mode so it maintains its battery capacity. Additionally, since ship mode is where the device is consuming the lowest battery current it can also be set by the host microcontroller to save battery during device operation.
